National Coloring Day 2021 - Delicate Dahlias and Beautifully Penned DSP

Today is National Coloring Day! How many of you find coloring to be calming? The hobby of coloring is not just for kids. Many adults have rediscovered their passion for coloring and create art with it!  



I enjoy coloring with colored pencils. They don't require a lot of pressure to color and I can use my blender pens to make it darker or clear up any 'mistakes'!

I decided to commemorate the day by making a card for my Grandniece who will be turning 9 this year and enjoys coloring. I chose the Beautifully Penned black & White  Designer Series paper and selected a piece that has images that can be colored. 
I added an image that could also be colored from the Delicate Dahlias stamp set that has that beautiful floral image. 


For my card base I selected the smoky slate card stock. My intent for this card is to allow me Grandniece to be able to color the paper and images so I added the birthday sentiment on the inside and will add a note to encourage her to color the card and send me a photo when she is done. 


As you can see, I added a small strip of paper that I attached the floral image to. I limited my adhesive on the back of the cardstock with the floral image so she can easily 'twist' off this layer  and hopefully not tear the paper. This leaves as much of the designer paper on the main layer left to color. 

I encourage you to celebrate coloring day by getting out your favorite coloring tools and coloring some of your favorite images or pick out a new coloring book to try.
