International Cat Day 2021 Featuring Stampin' Up! Clever Cats Stamp Set

Did you know it's International Cat Day? While I do not currently own a cat, I have owned a few in my lifetime. They were very loving cats. 

To commemorate this day, I have been playing in the studio with the Clever Cat set from the new July-Dec Mini Catalog. The cats in this set made me laugh when I saw the set so I just had to get it.

The image of the cat in the box is too funny. Anyone who has owned a cat has experienced them climbing into a box of any size and the cat in this set is clearly too big for the box, but that doesn't matter! 

In the above card I chose the cat that is peaking out of the pumpkin. I added the spider and the two of them appear to be 'looking' at each other!!  I love all the little sentiments in this set and added a few on the front. The stamped bats are from the Sparkle of the Season stamp set. 

This card I chose the fat cat image looking like it doesn't have a care in the word as to what is going on. Typical of many cats! The pumpkin die cut is from the Seasonal Swirl Dies, and the stamped stars and bats are also from the Sparkle of the Season stamp set. 

I used the Painted Texture embossing folder on the middle layer of each card. The first orange card shows it well. Unfortunately it did not show up in the photos of the 2nd black card. 

I also used the new Cute Halloween 6x5 paper in both cards, but different patterns. I love that one side of the paper is black & shite and the other is a choice of pattern/fun Halloween images. 

I used the same sketch layout in both cards. It is one of my favorite sketches to create with. The below gives you the measurements for this sketch. Give it try, it may become your favorite as well.

Crafty Collaborations Sale-A-Bration Blog Hop

The Crafty Collaborations Team is comprised of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world. Each month we participate in several collaborative projects, including Blog Hops, like this one to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. Our Goal is to create, share, and inspire every crafter to keep our creative energy flowing. 

Today features projects use products from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure. You can choose a free item from the brochure with every $50 ordered during from Sale-a-Bration! Select items require a purchase of $100 or more. This promotion is from 3 August - 30 September, 2021. 

During the Demonstrator Pre-order, I earned the Counting Sheep (1st order of $50) and Sheep Dies ($50 more on same order) I know I've already shared a few cards using this set, but it is such a fun set, I'm sharing another one! 

I CASE'd (Copy and Share Everything) this card from Heather Parratt. The background paper is from Beauty of the Earth. The paper looks like sky and grass, making look like the sheep are out in the Barn yard! I really like this layout and found it easy to duplicate. I tested some coloring on the sheep as well. 

Card Details

    Paper: 

        Base- Crumb Cake 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", score 4 1/4"

        Basic White Card Stock  - 4" x 5" to stamp the sheep 

                                                    Scrap for sentiment 

        Soft Suede - 2" x 5 1/2" to die cut the fence  

        DSP: Beauty of the Earth - 2 - 5 1/4" x 2"of the 'sky' & 'grass' 

                 2021-2023 In-Color - Pale Papaya scrap to die cut the sun  

    Ink: 

        Gray Granite 

            Stamped images and sentiment 

            Blending brushes on 2 of the sheep to give them a 'dirty' look

            Blender Pen to color in the face and legs of sheep in the fence. 

Other: Sheep dies to die cut the sheep, fence, sun 

           Mini Stampin Cut & Emboss 

           Dimensional's to pop the fence, sun, 2 sheep and sentiment 

           Stampin' Seal Adhesive      

I also participated in a card swap. A group of Demonstrators make cards, in this case using products in the Sale-A-Bration Brochure. We then mail our card to the members that signed up. There are more yet to deliver to me, but I wanted to share the one's I've received.

These cards are using the adorable Penguin Playmates 12 x 12 DSP -free with $50 order. This DSP coordinates with the Penguin Place bundle on pg. 33 of the new Mini catalog. The bundle sells for $31.50, add another $18.50 in product (pack of cards stock, dimensional's and the cute snowflakes), your set to make you holiday cards!!

These beautiful cards are de using the Delicate Dahlias stamp set. This set is free with a $100 purchase or more. It is really a beautiful set. It uses the 2-step technique - stamp the outline image first, stamp the filler image 2nd. A stamparatus tool works great to help line up the stamps if your not confident with your stamping technique.

August Happenings: July - December 2021 Mini Catalog and Sale-a-Bration Live Today

Hello My Crafty Friends,

It's a new month and Stampin' Up! has the new Mini and Sale-a-Bration catalogs live for orders today. Specific links to shop each catalog are located on the right side bar. Sale-a-Bration runs for just 2 montsh and some items in the brochure are limited in availability. This is a great time to order supplies to make any variety of holiday cards, and stock up on supplies from the annual catalog as well.  

A new month also means a new host code and loyalty rewards! I've added both these categories to my right side bar as you scroll down. 

The August host code link is KBDJF7PB. Remember this is for orders placed online for under $150. If you are already part of a workshop or card club, you will be given your own host code. Please do not use this monthly code. I'm happy to help you with your order.  Contact me with any questions on using the host code. 

For some time now, I've been offering a free loyalty item each month on orders over $65.  The August loyalty reward is Basic Rhinestones. This is a staple product and with all the sparkly items in the catalog, this will go great with any projects.  I attempt to deliver or mail it to you within a few weeks of your order, but will deliver it no later than 10 days after the end of the month.

I'm excited to be starting a new Card Club this month. Here are just a few details: 

• Meets quarterly to make 3 projects in Maplewood, MN ($5 fee per quarter)
• $37.50* per quarter in Product Purchases. Commitment for 12 months
• *Amount depends on # in the club. Minimum is 4 per club
• Orders placed with me on or before club date or online store (my link)
• Access to private Customer FB group and tutorials on the projects emailed after each club session.
• Receive Hostess Rewards during your club month - minimum 10% on $150, but outside orders encouraged during your host month to maximize your rewards.
• Have ‘your’ creative time with friends new and old

CARD CLASSES 

I have two opportunities for Card Classes coming up this month. 

1. Birthday Card Class See details in my prior post. Reserve your spot with $20 payment on or before 8/10/21
2. Coffee & Cards Kit classes - I offer these 1x/month at 3 local coffee shops. We make 2 simple cards from different card kits each month. Cost is $5. The attendees love the simple cards and the time to socialize and meet new people with similar interest.

• Wednesday 8/25 1:30 pm - Dunn Brothers in Woodbury

National / International Friendship Day

Hello Friends, 

Happy National Friendship Day. The official day was yesterday, and the International Day of Friendship was Saturday, but to me, everyday is Friendship Day. Friends bring so much meaning to my life, I'm really not sure where I'd be without all of you.

I believe one of my Superpower's is continuing to connect with both my existing and new friends. Some you can just see a few times a year, but the time just melts away when we hang out. Others, I see often and enjoy their company in many different ways. There can be a season for friendships as well. While I miss those I am no longer spending time with, I understand many of us are on a journey and there are more pressing matters going on in our lives. I'm here if they still need a friend.  

I think of friends in categories:   

• Besties/BFF's - you know who you are. I am so thankful I can rely on you to lend a helping hand, thoughtful wisdom and a warm hug when I need it. 
• Work friends- you know the kind that make work worth going to 
• Neighbors -new and old. I moved about 30 minutes from where I used to live 5 years ago and while it has been challenging to convince people that I am not in another country, those who value the friendship have remained in contact. I have been fortunate to meet many new neighbor friends as well. 
• Occasional friends- they are there for specific things, i.e. walks, karaoke -yes I have singing buddies, any number of outings that some friends prefer over others. 
• Soulmates- I have a friend that I swear we were sisters in another life. It is just uncanny. I don't see her often anymore as she cares for an ill spouse but we stay in touch in other ways. I'm fortunate that my husband is in this category as well, at last most of the time - lol 
• Speaking of sisters- we can count ourselves fortunate if our siblings are our friends. My sister is my friend. 
• Crafting Friends- I have to add this to my list because I have met so many amazing people connecting over our shared passion for crafting- not just paper crafting, but sewing, crochet/knit, painting, etc. We are all artists in our own way, it feeds our soul. 

I'm sure there are more 'categories' but suffice it to say I am very grateful and blessed to have many people in my life to call my friend. This past year of COVID has been particularly difficult, not being able to see family and friends on a regular basis. For this extroverted soul, I have felt particularly lost. As I begin to venture out more, I realize the important role friends play in my life. 

 

Friendship day inspired me to create the two cards highlighted in this post. Each of my friends are true friends in their own way. I hope that I am equally deserving of your friendship and thank you for the kindness and generosity bestowed to me over the years. 

May you be blessed with friends that hold you up, laugh and cry with you, and make your life better!
