Technique Tuesday - Frames

The Crafty Collaborations Team is comprised of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world. Each month we participate in several collaborative projects, including Blog Hops, like this one to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. Our Goal is to create, share, and inspire every crafter to keep our creative energy flowing.

Today features the monthly Technique Tuesday post. The subject is Frames. I was making a few projects using the Scalloped Contour dies and when I saw the 'negative' space they crated I realized it was perfect to use in a project with frames.

Knowing there are a few of my stamp sets retiring this month, I thought I'd use them in my card. Thankfully the Oceanfront Stamp is continuing but I often use the retiring Gentle Waves and On the Horizon stamp set with the Oceanfront set - see Last Chance list here. I CASED this card from Lisa Freeman who shares it on her Utube Channel- click to view it. I really liked the look of her card as she uses the kissing technique with the water stamp on the Gentle Waves stamp! For our theme today, I added the 'window' frame look with my Scalloped Contours die.

The frame reminds me of looking out the window at the ocean! Love everything about this card and all the textures these stamps create.

Card Details

  • Stamps
    • Oceanfront - I used this set for the majority of the images
    • Gentle Waves  - Retiring - this set was used to 'kiss' the ocean looking stamp from Oceanfront onto the large Gentle waves stamp.
    • On The Horizon - Retiring / Bundle - used the awesome bird image and sentiment
  • Paper
    • Basic White Thick Card Stock - Card Base 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 score 4 1/4
    • Bermuda Bay - layer 5 1/4" x 4" (embossing optional)
    • Basic White Layer - (2) 3 3/4 x 5; 1 for the scalloped contour die cut placed on with mini dimensionals
      • Scrap for sentiment die cut with Stylish Shape Dies
  • Ink
    • Daffodil Delight
    • Calypso Coral - sponge daub on bottom of first stamp for 'sundown' look. Wink of Stella taps gave it some shimmer and unique dimensions to the look
    • Coastal Cabana - stamp the 'ocean water ' image first
    • Bermuda Bay - ink up on Gentle Waves and 'kiss' the inked ocean water image onto the top part of the gentle waves to transfer the darker inked waves onto the image.
    • Sahara Sand - I stamped a few time both stamped off and dark
    • Soft Suede - birds, grassy stamps and sentiment
  • Other
    • Scalloped Contours Dies
    • Stylish Shapes Dies
    • Sponge Daubers
    • Wink of Stella - tapped all over card to give it some sparkle
    • Pebble Enamel Shapes - Retiring
    • Adhesives: Seal, Multipurpose glue, Mini Dimensionals
The list looks big, but it came together very easy. I'm glad I have all 3 sets to work together with even though 2 are retiring. These are perfect for any lake/beach scene cards or scrapbook pages.

Now Let's dig into more collaborative fun. Grab a beverage, sit back, and enjoy the hop! I hope you find awesome ideas and inspiration for your projects.
