Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop May 2022 - Maps

The Scrapbooking Global Team is comprised of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world. Each month we participate in a scrapbooking Blog Hop Theme, like this one, to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. Our Goal is to create, share, and inspire every crafter to keep our creative energy'  flowing.

Today's theme is brought to you by Sharon Dalton and is titled 'Maps' to create a layout using any type of map in the layout.

I immediately think of Travel/Road Trip when it comes to maps. I struggled finding any maps, noting I clearly need to do some reorganizing of my photo/memorabilia. I did want to look back in time and scrap something on my year as an exchange student in Sweden. What I did find was a very fragile book of information on the School/Gymnasium I attended that lo and behold had a map of the school!!

I cut the top of the cover that had the name of the school and school year attached it to basic white paper to make it easier to trim without tearing. then attached it as the banner/title. The map was in the back of the pamphlet. I also cut out the information on the 'line' of studies I was placed in to study while I was there. Of course all this is in Swedish, and it brought back a flood of memories.

I couldn't just do a page of the items cut from the pamphlet, so I selected the school picture I took when I was there. This is page 1 of  2 page, side by side layout and where I added in some Stampin' Up! products to make it a bit more playful. I used the new Alphabest Bundle for the title. I can see myself definitely using this bundle in both my card making and scrapbooking. I also added the whimsical female Viking from the Brave Viking set. The nature of this layout really called for a long journal section to the right of the photo to memorialize the information (lower 1/4 you have to flip down to continue to read).

This experience as a foreign exchanged student shaped the rest of my life in so many positive ways. I have such fond memories of my time and in fact remain in contact with the son in my host family, along with a few amazing girls from my class that befriended me and helped me explore Sweden! I need to really work on more of my photos from this year so I don't forget any more than I already have. Fortunately I did keep a very well written journal of my year which should help me put it together.

Now Let's dig into more collaborative fun, grab a beverage, sit back, and enjoy the hop! I hope you find awesome ideas. Be sure to head on over to Cheryl Taylor's blog to see what she created by clicking the NEXT image below. Enjoy hopping along to see the beautiful projects that everyone else created!

    1. Thanks Shaz. The host/exchange experience is wonderful. We hosted 3 students when I was young and then 3 students with my own family. My kids enjoyed the experience
