Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop March 2022 - Color challenge

The Scrapbooking Global Team is comprised of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world. Each month we participate in a scrapbooking Blog Hop Theme, like this one, to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. Our Goal is to create, share, and inspire every crafter to keep our creative energy flowing.

Today's theme is a Color Challenge using the colors of Misty Moonlight, Crumb Cake and Petal Pink

This challenge is brought to you by Mai Chapelain from the Designer Team.

I have some 12x12 cardstock in Stampin' Up!'s Neutrals color family, which includes the Crumb Cake color. These Color bundles of paper can be found on pg. 126 of the 2021-2022 annual catalog. These are great to have on hand for when you don't want to use Basic White as your base for the layout.

When doing a color challenge, I look to my photo stash to decide what fits with these colors. I decided to use photo's from a camping trip with my cousin and her family back in 2008.

I recently purchased the Quiet Meadow Bundle and Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine to take advantage of the current 20% off sale. I decided to give the die cuts a try with this layout. I cut them in Petal Pink and added some ink to the die cuts using the Sponge Daubers, along with some Wink of Stella. I adhered them with mini glue dots to a Misty Moonlight Doily from the Heart & Home Doilies. Here is a close up of the die cut element. I also added Crumb Cake twine and Champagne Rhinestones. The whole doily was adhered with dimensionals to the layout

I adhered the photos onto a full 8 1/2 x 11 Misty Moonlight cardstock and adhered that to the 12 x 12 Crumb Cake. I did add one narrow die cut from the Meadow Dies between the photos, adding wink of stella and champagne rhinestones to this die cut.

For my Title/Journal, I used the Playful Alphabet in Misty Moonlight, adhered to adhesive sheets first to make it easier to attach to the petal pink layer. The dark on light really popped the title. The title was adhered with dimensionals. I also added a few of the butterflies from the Meadow die cuts to the layout. I sponge daubed these with color as well, added the champagne rhinestones and used the light stamping blend marker to make the 'body' of the butterfly. They were adhered with mini glue dots.

I have other photos from this camp trip of hikes, water falls and sites we visited in the area. I plan to add them to a pocket page and add a few memories & more journaling cards rather than scrapbook all the 'nature' photos.

As part of the Scrapbooking Global design team we participate in a monthly blog hop and challenges but anyone can join in if they’d like. We’d love to have you join us! Be sure to join the Scrapbooking Global – Stampin’ Up! Facebook Group so you know when the sign up starts for our next hop.

  3. Such a lovely page Jill, your design works so well to fit your photos, I've never thought of using a whole piece of cardstock onto a 12" x 12" - it fits in and looks great with all your fun photos! The detail on your floral embellishment is just beautiful and enough for the whole page!
