The Crafty Collaborations Team is comprised of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world. Each month we participate in several collaborative projects, including Blog Hops, like this one to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. Our Goal is to create, share, and inspire every crafter to keep our creative energy flowing.
Today features Water Color Pencils where the team shares project using the Stampin' Up! Watercolor pencils. The pencils come in 2 assortments: 13 assorted pencil colors for $16.00 and another with 10 assorted pencil colors for $12.50. You'll want to have both assortments in your tool kit.
To begin, gather your pencils and water color tools. When using water based coloring, StazOn black ink is required so that the black outline of the image does not bleed when you begin applying water. Additionally, I used the Shimmery White cardstock which works well when water coloring is involved. There is also the Water Color paper, but I use that when I am water coloring the whole paper and have to spritz it down with water. I like to use the Blender pens with the water colors- these come in a pack of 3. It makes the pencil coloring blend together and darken up. I did also use the Water Painters in this creation as I wanted the tree to have a more muted background effect.
I have been meaning to give the Sale-A-Bration set Feels Like Home a try. This image is prefect for water color pencils. The above image is pencils only, no blending. The below image applied blending. Note how much darker the colors look. You can also see the effect of the water painters around the tree. I applied the black pencil directly onto the painter and added in some color to the brick and front walk for some depth.
I really love the brick-like paper from the Bloom Where Your Planted designer series paper and new it would work well with this image. I selected Mint Macaron and Cinnamon Cider for my cardstock. I ended up making this a fold card with the front card flap cut at 2 3/4". The sentiment is stamped in black memento ink. I added Champagne Rhinestones for effect.
I really like how this turned out. I do not color often, but when I do I reach for my water colored pencils more than markers.
