Technique Tuesday Blog Hop - December 2023 - 2-Step Stamping

The Crafty Collaborations Team is comprised of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world. Each month we participate in several collaborative projects, including Blog Hops, like this one to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. Our Goal is to create, share, and inspire every crafter to keep our creative energy flowing.

Today's feature technique is two step stamping. I don't own too many sets that require the 2-step process, but the Merriest Trees stamp set is a perfect example of this.

The main tree image is one large sold image but can be cut into many different sizes of trees using the die cuts. The 2-step part is the added 'branches' image stamped right over the sold tree image. It's pretty easy and forgiving to line up on the tree. Often your solid image will be a lighter ink so that the 2nd image over it in a darker ink shows up. I decided to try a bit of embossing for the 2nd step stamping.

Here's some details on the different trees, which turned out mainly by salvaging some mistakes.

Large Tree: total mistake on how this turned out. I stamped the solid tree with garden green and I think what happened is I didn't wait long enough for my juicy ink to dry and added the Veramark and powder right away which created this sort of flocked tree look from the extra sprinkles of powder. I actually really love it - lol

Middle size tree:  I stamped off with the garden green first to create a more muted color for this tree. I tried the craft white ink, but it didn't really show up well, so I stamped versamark over it and embossed it. Totally was able to salvage the tree with a unique look.

Small Tree: Full color garden green and let it fully dry, then stamped the branches with versamark embossed with white powder so you see the 'correct' effect of letting it dry. This tree was adhered with dimensionals.
