Spotlighting Stampin' Up! fabulous Cardstock Blog Hop

The Crafty Collaborations Team is comprised of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world. Each month we participate in several collaborative projects, including Blog Hops, like this one to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. Our Goal is to create, share, and inspire every crafter to keep our creative energy flowing.

Today the blog group will showcase our favorite tips and techniques to using cardstock! Stampin' Up! cardstock is one of the best in the industry and a staple in any paper crafter's stash. 

There are 4 card color collections Stampin' Up! offers along with 2 in-color options that rotate out every other year. I checked my stash and put strips of left over card stock from each collection. Below is from the Regals collection, which is one of my favorites. I made a few of these strip layers using 1/2", 3/4" and 5/8" wide strips of varying lengths. I decided the 5/8" is my preferred width, but you can mix and match based on what you have in your stash.    

Start off with a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Basic white cardstock (regular, not the thick) The main trick to adhering the strips is to first adhere Adhesive sheets cut to size. Use your Take Your Pick tool to peel off the full layer onto the cardstock, and then peel off each of the adhesive 2" protective layers to adhere the cardstock strips to the adhesive on the white base layer, 

 

The above shows the back side with the excess lengths hanging out the card stock. Take your scissors and simply cut off the excess. Turn it over and trim the layer as needed. The below was trimmed to 5" x 3 3/4". 

With Spring in the air, weddings/showers begin to take place. I decided to use the strips in my stash from the Subtles Cardstock  collection to make a card for an upcoming shower I'm attending. 

I'm having fun playing with the Artistically Inked Bundle and decided to use the large floral die cut to lay over all the pretty strips of paper. Using the adhesive sheets on the basic white cardstock before die cutting this flower makes attaching this delicate die cut much easier. 

Using your cardstock scraps is a great way to create a colorful background. The Color collections are designed to coordinate well together. Use your cardstock strips and give this technique a try!
