Crafty Challenge Blog Hop - Jan 2022 Color Inspiration

The Crafty Collaborations Team is comprised of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world. Each month we participate in several collaborative projects, including Blog Hops, like this one to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. Our Goal is to create, share, and inspire every crafter to keep our creative energy flowing.

Today features the Color Inspiration challenge. The team will shares projects incorporating the colors of Coastal Cabana, Highland Heather and Flirty Flamingo.

With these colors, I immediately thought of the Sweet Talk Designer Series Paper. I've been creating a bunch of Valentine and 'Love' themed cards in my studio. It was time to switch up using Red!

The Sweet Talk paper has a design with lots of hearts with cute sayings on them, like the Conversation Hearts candies many kids hand out during Valentines day. I decide to cut a bunch up and incorporate them in my card.

The Hearts have a bit of a water color effect to them, so I decided to use my water color paper to add the Coastal Cabana color using refill ink drops and my water brushes. I really like the water color effect.

I also roughly followed a sketch design to make it easy to pull the card together. Very little stamping involved, other than a sentiment on the inside. I added a nice layer of texture with my new favorite Gingham embossing folder. Lastly I added a few iridescent rhinestones for bling.

Here are some details so you can join me in making a few more of this easy card. Sub out supplies you have or consider getting this cute paper and the Sweet Conversations bundle!

Share it Sunday Blog Hop - January 2021 with Oceanfront Stamp Set and On The Horizon Bundle

Today features the 'monthly Share It Sunday' projects where the team shares any project that have been working on.

If you haven't added the Oceanfront stamp set and On The Horizon Bundle/New Horizons Suite of products to your wish list, you're going to want to add it. I have not been much for designs using landscapes, partly because I think I have been intimated by it. However, these 2 sets make it soooo easy to create a beautiful landscape, you need to try it for yourself.

It really did turn out so peaceful and relaxing. I've seen people using many different colors to create this oceanfront scene for daytime, evening, unique sunsets, etc. Your imagination is the only limit to your creativity with these sets. Don't let me get started on how beautiful the New Horizon DSP is! I used what I would call the 'B' side in this card, because I wanted the oceanfront stamping to take center stage.  However, the designs on the main sides of the New Horizon DSP are stunning! You'll want to get this paper for your stash to create with!

Here's some tips on how I made this card:

Card Details
  • Stamps
    • Oceanfront
    • On The Horizon Bundle - includes Horizon Dies
  • Paper
    • Basic White - Thick: card base 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, scored 4 1/4
    • Basic White
        • 3 1/4 x 4 3/4 die cut with stitched rectangle
        • 1 1/2 x 2 1/4 - sentiment die cut with Tasteful Label dies
    • Designer Series Paper: New Horizons 6 x 6 - 5 1/4 x 4
            • Bloom Where Your Planted: fence die cut from Horizon Dies
  • Ink: Tip I stamped off the ink on scrap paper, before inking on the die cut white piece to give it a bit more subtle look
    • Largest image - "Sky" = Coastal Cabana
    • Next image - "water' = Pacific Point
    • Next image - "beach" = Grey Granite- i did it a few times to give it a layered look
      • Sentiment and birds from On The Horizon stamp set inked in Grey Granite.
    • "Dots" image - "sand" = Sahara Sand
    • Grassy image - Garden Green. You can see I stamped on the background DSP and on the white die cut piece.
  • Other

Valentine's Day Blog Hop 2021

The Crafty Collaborations Team is comprised of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world. Each month we participate in several collaborative projects, including Blog Hops, like this one to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. Our Goal is to create, share, and inspire every crafter to keep our creative energy flowing.

Today's feature is a Valentine theme. Creators will share some valentine project ideas just in time for you to create for your loved ones.

The quintessential valentine set to handle any of your Valentine needs in the 2022 Jan-June mini catalog is Sweet Talk Suite. The Sweet Conversations Stamp set has so many elements, and great sentiments to create fun valentine cards. Bundle it with the Sweet Heart Dies and you can create any number of unique gifts. The Gingham embossing folder is also my new favorite folder. I've created quite a few cards using this as a background layer.

I've been seeing a few Tic Tac Toe cards and really like the idea. I think they can be both playful for a child, masculine for the guy in your life, or make it more girly with pink hues. My main concern was how do I get the game borders lined up. I am horrible at straight lines. As I searched through ideas, it came to me that the Pattern Party Host Paper, has a black striped paper I can easily trim and use to create the game border spaces. It is also a thinner paper to adhere/overlap than cardstock strips would be. I cut 4 of the black only stripes and cut it down to 3", applying it onto the white 3 x 3 layer with a bit of multipurpose glue.
Tic Tac Toe

As you can see, the borders look straight and pretty well spaced to allow for the stamped images. You can stamp the "X" and Hearts wherever you like on the 'board' as long as you create a 'win' with the hearts. The middle made the most sense to me so the sentiment is placed over it.

You'll notice this is a square card, 4 1/4 x 4 1/4. I  figured this was a simple way to figure out the math of a square 3 x 3 game area. The real red cardstock layer is embossed with the Gingham folder and attached to the black base. The 3x3 game is attached with dimensionals to the red layer. The sentiment is heat embossed with white embossing powder, die cut with the small rectangle and also attached with dimensionals. I embellished with black matte dots.

I wanted to add a little something on the inside, and the X and heart are a perfect touch in the corner with the sentiment. I'm going to make another card with Melon Mambo colors to give it a more female touch thinking this black & red one could be a great card for that game playing guy in your life.
