Scrapbooking Global Hop - September 2021 - Scrap The Boys

The Scrapbooking Global Team is comprised of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world. Each month we participate in a scrapbooking Blog Hop Theme, like this one, to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. Our Goal is to create, share, and inspire every crafter to keep our creative energy flowing.

Today's Theme is "Scrap The Boys and is brought to you by Design Team Member, Delys Cram,

Over July 4th, we spent a week with our daughters family at a National Rodeo. Their oldest Son, our grandson, qualified for this National rodeo. He is 9 and participates in the Little Britches Rodeo Association in Montana. He was supper excited to attend this event and boy was it huge! His age class alone had an est. 30 participants from all over the U.S. With this 'Boys' topic, the choice was simple to scrapbook a few of the photo's I took from the trip, although it was hard to narrow down the choices.

Red, White & Blue was an easy choice for colors to use in this layout. I added a small strip of Sweet Symmetry designer series paper to each page. Since I had so many photos, I did not do any layering of the photos. I chose instead to create journaling 'cards' using the Stitched so Sweetly dies and layer those so they will stand out. Below is page 1 of the layout.

The Sheep dies have several dies in the set.  I knew I wanted to use the fence, so of course I added the cute little sheep characters to the layout. One of the competitions is tying the tail of a goat, so they sheep sort of represent that element. Additionally, we had super hot weather, so the sun on the one photo is meant to represent that and I will journal a bit about it along with what a saving grace having a golf cart was as this property was huge!

The 2nd page below has photo's of the arena. Our grandson's favorite competition is the Barrel Racing and he is setting up to race that in these photos. He almost made the top 10 finals in this race! I fussy cut him on the horse and added a flag and rope in the corner. The other competition involves a flag race and roping is an essential part of rodeo competitions.

The Playful Alphabets we're used for the titles and as noted, the fence is so cute, it was a perfect element to add to this layout. I added lots of little encouraging sentiments throughout the layout. His younger brother was not in the competition. Grandpa kept him occupied with any number of things during the 'waiting'. He also really loves arts & crafts so you may have noticed in the first page that I brought a paper pumpkin kit for him and he was so creative with it! I've relived this fun trip as I made these 2 pages. I'm excited to see how both boys grow in their rodeo abilities as the continue to compete in years ahead.

Now Let's dig into more collaborative fun. Grab a beverage, sit back, and enjoy the hop! I hope you find awesome ideas and inspiration for your projects.
