Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop March 2021 - Mood Board

Welcome to the Scrapbooking Global March 2021 blog hop. This is my first time participating in a blog hop with this group. This month's inspiration comes from a mood board using Stampin' Up! products. I’ve never done anything using a mood board as the inspiration for a scrapbook page so this was something very different for me and I really enjoyed the creative process. It is fun to see the other participant share their take on this “mood board” challenge! Here is the image of the mood board shared to inspire today’s creations.

When I first saw the mood board, I was drawn to the sentiment and immediately thought of my wedding day. I've been married for 31+ years and we celebrated our 30th anniversary on a Hawaiian cruise. Searching through photos I came upon the photo taken on the cruise formal night. It was perfect for this theme, particularly focusing on the colors in my dress.

Keeping the color from my dress in mind, I checked my stash of designer series paper and loved the blue/green colors in the Artistry Blooms DSP. I ended up using Granny Apple Green and Pacific Point as my two main colors with a splash of Daffodil Delight to pick up the touch of yellow in my dress.

Once the background paper color was decided I experimented with some floral stamps/punches I had in an effort to see if they could be incorporated into the layout. At the end of the day I did not use these elements in the final layout, but it was all part of the creative process.

I knew I wanted to use circles and hearts from the mood board. I decided to use my background paper as larger circles in the layout. To this end I simply traced circles from various sizes using Tupperware/pan lids and cut them out.

After laying them out to make sure they worked, I decided the 'empty' space needed 'something'. I've never used the paint splatter technique in my work and decided this would be a great opportunity to use it. I practiced with the spattering technique on some white paper first to make sure it was the effect I was looking for. The Granny Apple Green and Pacific Point inks needed a little something for depth. This is when I decided to add Daffodil Delight into the mix and I really liked how it turned out.

With the floral elements not quite working into the layout like I thought they would, the layout still needed an additional touch. The greenery from the mood board inspired me to add die cuts in complimentary colors from the Forever Flourishing die cuts along with the gold elements from the lipstick case which I added using the Forever Gold Laser Cut Specialty Paper.

Now the decision to add sentiments that fit with an anniversary/long term relationship theme, I decided the sentiment from Forever Fern Stamp set set the tone of the message. From there, the sentiments in Lovely You fit perfectly with this theme. Lastly, I couldn't resist adding the "Good things..." sentiment from the Butterfly Gala set. I added a complimentary layer to each and punched the end using the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch. For the sentiments that needed wider paper, I simply snipped the ends.

The final step was adding additional touches with embellishments. I really wanted to add more shine with additional gold touches and hearts to the layout. I punched some hearts with Gold Foil Sheets using the heart in the Dog Builder Punch. These were added to each sentiment. The sentiment layers were added to the layout with dimensionals to give them  depth. The green circle in the layout seemed like it needed something as well, so I added a few layers of the Gold Trim from the Forever Greenery Trim pack. I am very pleased with the finished product!

As you can see there are a variety of ways you can create with a Mood Board. You can use any of the the colors, the way it makes you feel, elements that are pictured in the board, etc. The key is to focus on the images that catch your imagination! I hope you consider using this Mood Board to inspire your next scrapbook creation!
