Share It Sunday - October 2023

The Crafty Collaborations Team is comprised of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world. Each month we participate in several collaborative projects, including Blog Hops, like this one to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. Our Goal is to create, share, and inspire every crafter to keep our creative energy flowing.

Today features the 'monthly Share It Sunday' projects where the team shares any project that have been working on. Given that Halloween is only a few days away, I decided to share a couple Halloween cards I made.

I actually do not have a current stamp set to use for Halloween, but I participated in purchasing a product share form the Sept. - Dec mini catalog and with that I got a sample of Them Bones 12 x 12 designer series paper and Glow In The Dark Bats & Ghosts embellishments. I let the paper do all of the work for my cards.

I trimmed each of the papers and cut out one of the tombstones to add to the one card. I also cut out one of the skeletons to go with the "Ricky D Bones" tombstone. adding a layer of another background paper and adhering them to black card bases, I don't feel bad at all for not having a sentiment, as the tombstones, are the sentiment. Adding the ghosts/bats was a nice fun touch. I'm sure my grandsons will love testing the glow in the dark function.

#DOswts421 - Sponging Technique Inspiration

Welcome to the DO Stamper Stars Blog Hop. I am a member of the DO Stamper Stars team which is comprised of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who are part of Dawn Olchefkse's leader team. Each month we participate in 2 Blog Hops, like this one, to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. Our Goal is to create, share, and inspire every crafter to keep our creative energy flowing.

Today's inspiration is using sponging techniques. Stampin" Up! has several products you can use to create 'sponge' backgrounds, or even add sponged ink directly onto stamps etc. Today I chose to use the sponge daubers with 3 different ink colors to create a nighttime background to the images from the Beary Cute stamp set. I CASE'd this technique from Demonstrator Lisa Curcio

This card really is very simple, the hardest part is measuring how much you want to mask off. Sponging with daubers is very forgiving using a circular motion, starting on the masked paper and working your way inward. I'm pleasantly surprised how well it turned out as I typically have a bit of a heavy hand when it comes to this inking technique. I so wanted to add an embellishment but thought it best to leave it be. The peaceful night just looks so beautiful!

Card Details

  • Stamps
    • Beary Cute
  • Paper
    • Basic Black card base: 11 x 4 1/4 score 5 1/2
    • Basic white layer (2) 4 x5 1/4 (one on inside)
  • Ink
    • Balmy Blue - start with this color and sponge about half way up -TIP_ use circular motions so you don't get 'spotty' looking ink, although this technique is very forgiving
    • Blueberry Bushel - Start from top of the masking and work about 3/4 way down
    • Night of Navy - sponge over top of Blueberry Bushel about 1/3 down from top of masking
    • Tuxedo Black memento ink -all stamped images
    • Craft white ink - 'dots' of snow using small tip of take your pick tool
  • Other
    • Masking paper
    • sponge daubers
    • Adhesives: Seal, Multipurpose glue, Mini Glue Dots, Dimensionals

Now Let's dig into more collaborative fun. Grab a beverage, sit back, and enjoy the hop! I hope you find awesome ideas and inspiration to make cards of your own.

Paper Pumpkin Blog Hop - October 2023

Welcome to the October Paper Pumpkin Blog Hop. A Group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators join to create collaboratively using the current Paper Pumpkin Kit. Specifically, we design alternative cards, scrapbook pages, or other paper projects using the contents of the kit and a few coordinating additions from our own stash.

The October Home for the Holidays kit has everything you need to make some sparkly, festive cards.

It includes:

  • 8 beautiful 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" cards—four each of two designs with envelopes
  • Beautiful Christmas-themed precut pieces
  • Bottle of Glitter Glue.
  • Coordinating box design can help create a cute village Christmas scene!
  • Coordinating Stampin’ Up! colors: Balmy Blue, Blueberry Bushel, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, Lemon Lolly, Mossy Meadow, Night of Navy, Old Olive, Pecan Pie, Real Red (ink spot color)
  • (FYI...this kit coordinates with the November Paper Pumpkin Kit. So you'll want to stay subscribed.)

For an alternative, I like to use the stamp in an effort to show subscribers a way to extend the life of the kit using the stamp set with your own basic supplies and possibly a few leftover elements from the kit. I thought this stamp set could work well using the triple time stamp technique, only I modified the technique by adding a 4th layer for the main house stamp image. Additionally, I used several images as opposed to just one main large image typically seen with this technique. Check out a video from Demonstrator Dawn Olchefske on the traditional method for this technique,

I used all of the Deckled Rectangle Dies to create this card:

  • Real Red Card base 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4 along with 3 additional layers
  • Basic White - 4 layers along with the smallest die used for the sentiment.
I stamped the images to create more of a scene look to this card. It's hard to see in the photo, but I added the glitter glue from the kit to the middle of the large snowflake images, the house and a few of the trees. It does bleed a bit but adds a nice touch. I left overnight to dry.

Don’t forget to check out all the fun projects made as part of this blog hop. Click the next button below to hop along!  Light up the Christmas season with November's Warm Wishes Paper Pumpkin kit. Crafty Challenge - October 2023 - Fun Fold

Today features the monthly Crafty Challenge using the 5 elements pictured below.

The initial decision was selecting which type of fun fold to make. I don't often think of using fun folds with Sympathy cards. The bookbinder fun fold is one of my favorite, go to folds, so it made sense to use this style. You simply take an 11" x 4 1/4 card, score it at 5 1/2 and again at 4 1/4. To create the binder, glue the space between the two score marks and fold the front piece back.

The other difficult decision was choosing a two-step stamp set. I actually don't own very many current stamp sets that are two steps, which involves having one image that stamps the outer image and another that stamps the inside, hence the 2-step process. I turned to the large floral image in the Color & Contour stamp set.

Black and white was the easiest part of this card, and really does make an elegant sympathy card. For trinkets, I added the Brushed Brash Butterflies, always a perfect addition to a sympathy card.
