National Love People Day - September 30

Hello JH Studio crafters! Today is National Love People Day. I think the world could use a whole lot of loving on each other. The Official Website with details regarding this campaign is here

We are encouraged Celebrate National Love People Day by accepting the Love People Challenge! Performing random acts of love September 25th through September 30th. We can certainly perform random acts of kindness anytime of year. Other ideas to celebrate are:

  • Volunteering
  • Give - a little goes a long way when you are part of a greater community of giving
  • Share - provide a kind word of encouragement to a neighbor, friend or family member.
I created the below card using the Create With Friends stamp set and Beautifully Penned DSP as a means of sharing a word of encouragement. List of products used are at the end of this post.

World Card Making Day is coming up this Saturday, October 2. This is a perfect opportunity to create some cards and consider handing them out/mailing to your family, friends and neighbors. Consider donating cards for a good cause. Scrapbook.com has created a Cards for Kindness program that is a great opportunity to donate cards.

Here's how it works:
1. You send your handmade cards with envelopes (blank inside - with no personal message) to Scrapbook.com. (Note: Minimum 10 cards/envelopes per box / per shipment)

2. They organize and distribute the cards to hospitals, crisis centers, cancer foundations, retirement homes, and other organizations.

3. The cards are used by nurses, staff members, counselors, and volunteers, who add handwritten messages of encouragement and love and give them to patients, children, and other people in need.

The website indicates themes they are currently in need of are:
- Thinking of You
- Happy Hello
- Blank/No Sentiment

Card donations also need to be accompanied with a submission form located on their website along with additional details on the program.

I'd love to hear from you on how you celebrate Love People Day, today or any other day of  the year. I wish you a blessed and wonderful day.

As a reminder, Sale-A-Bration ends tonight. If you want to take advantage of any free items from the brochure, place a $50 order to select the Beautifully Penned DSP for free, or other item you may be looking at in the brochure. Orders under $150 use September Host Code

National Coffee Day – September 29, 2021

Hello Crafters! Did you know that in the U.S. and Canada, today is National Coffee Day? Anyone who knows me well, knows that I love my coffee! I own a Nespresso Virtuo coffee maker and the below sign sits next to it.
What you may not know about me is that at one time I thought about owning my own coffee shop. I quit my job, got hired by Caribou Coffee to take part in their store manager training program, ran a store for about a year and realized the hours it took to run a store was more than I wanted to commit to, especially for the low profit margin. I have no regrets for giving this business a try and am thankful I could work at a store before deciding to invest in a franchise option. I still love my coffee and Caribou Coffee Mint Condition is one of my favorite coffees that I treat myself to from time to time. To celebrate, I picked myself up one today!!

You've likely seen me make other coffee cards using my favorite "Nothing's Better Than" stamp set and 'Love You More Than' coordinating die cuts. To commemorate this National Coffee day I pulled the stamp set out and made a cute little notecard.

Card Details
  • Paper:
    • Whisper White Note Cards and Envelopes (3 1/2 x 5)
    • Basic Black Cards Stock 2 1/2 x 4  + scrap for 'Coffee" die cut
    • Beautifully Penned DSP - 2 1/8 x 3 7/8 - Sale-A-Bration free item with $50 order. Ends September 30!
    • Basic White - 3 x 2 1/4 for Die cut + scraps for coffee cup dies
  • Ink:
    • Tuxedo Black Memento
    • Smoky Slate - stamped off for the inside of the coffee cup
  • Other:
    • Nothing Better Than Dies
    • Stitched So Sweetly Dies
    • Black Matte Dots
    • Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine
    • Seal
    • Dimensionals
I also decided to pull out a retired coffee set. I am not sure when this set retired. I never did purchase the die cuts to go with it, so I have to fussy cut the coffee cup. I particularly like the sentiments from this stamp set

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Comment on your favorite coffee place and/or style of coffee. I typically drink my coffee black but I enjoy a latte or mocha from time to time. Also, if your interested, check out details on where you can get FREE COFFEE  yet today.

Sale-A-Bration ends tomorrow night, so if you want to take advantage of any free items from the brochure, the Nothing's Better Than stamp set and coordinating dies will get you to $50 to select the Beautifully Penned DSP for free, or other item you may be looking at in the brochure. Orders under $150 use September Host Code

#DOswts371 - Sale-A-Bration Inspiration Hop

Hello and Happy Saturday! Welcome to the DO Stamper Stars Blog Hop. The DO Stamper Stars is comprised of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who are part of Dawn Olchefkse's leader team. Each month we participate in 2 Blog Hops, like this one, to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. Our Goal is to create, share, and inspire every crafter to keep our creative energy flowing.

Today's feature project is inspired using products from the Sale-A-Bration brochure. There are just 5+ days left of this promotion. Order $50 or more and qualify for (1) Tier 1 item from the brochure.

We have been remodeling our kitchen for close to 4 months now and just recently have the ability to use the kitchen, although there is still plenty of finishing touches to get done. I'm feeling like the house is finally becoming ours and so I decided to use the Feels Like Home stamp set. This set has grown on me and has lots of options to show off coloring/ink techniques.

I decided to give the Split Negative technique a try. It's been a year since I made a card using this technique. General instructions to make the card are as follows:
  • The image you choose is first stamped with regular stamp pad ink color on white or light colored paper.
  • The same image is typically stamped onto a different/ darker cardstock using Versamark and heat embossed with choice of embossing powder. I chose to give the Copper metallic powder a try, but it is challenging to see the embossing in the photo.
  • You then take the two pieces and 'split' them by cutting them in half and matching opposite halves from the light and dark paper to the each other. While you don't have to make 2 cards, why wouldn't you since you have 2 sets of the same image?

Card Details:
Paper:
  • Cinnamon Cider card base: 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4
  • Basic White 3" x 4" *
    • Scrap for sentiment
  • Crumb Cake  3" x 4"*
    • Scrap for Sentiment
      * Tip- I trimmed the halves up once I got them matched, so they end up smaller when                             you're done. You can make your card stock bigger if you want. Also, a Stamparatus works great              that way you know you have the images in the same spot on both pieces of cardstock.
  •     Blackberry - layer on 2nd card 3' x 4 1/8"
  •     Blackberry Beauty Designer Series Paper: 5 1/4" x 4" - I used the same paper, just flipped the side being used on each card.

Ink:
  •     Crumb Cake
  •     Versa Mark

Other:
  •     Copper Embossing Powder
  •     Heat Tool
  •     Stitched So Sweetly dies
  •     Seal
  •     Dimensionals
I hope you consider giving this technique a try. It is unique and creates some really pretty cards. Now Let's dig into more collaborative fun. Grab a beverage, sit back, and enjoy the hop!
